Born in Mérida (Spain), María Espada studied singing with Mariana You Chi and with Alfredo Kraus, among others.
She has performed in halls such as the Konzerthaus in Viena, the Berlin’s Philarmonie, Théâtre des Champs Élysées in Paris, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, Gasteig in Munich, Santa Cecilia in Rome, Vredenburg in Utrecht, and the most important Spanish opera houses and concert halls, such as the Teatro Real in Madrid or the Liceo in Barcelona.
She has worked with conductors such as Mariss Jansons, Iván Fischer, Ton Koopman, Andrea Marcon, Enrico Onofri, Frans Brüggen, Fabio Biondi, Giovanni Antonini, Frühbeck de Burgos, Christophe Rousset, Diego Fasolis, Howard Griffiths, Carlos Kalmar, Aldo Ceccato, Jesús López Cobos, Juanjo Mena, etc.
She has collaborated with ensembles and orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Venice Baroque Orchester, Il Giardino Armonico, the Orchestra of the 18th century, L’Orfeo Barockorchester, I Barocchisti, Les Talens Lyriques, La Cetra, Helsinki Baroque orchestra, Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic, Hungarian Radio Orchestra, Al Ayre español, Zefiro, Ricercar consort, and most of the renowned Spanish Symphony orchestras.
